Here’s a super funny submission by our great pal, Johan. It sure gave us comic relief for the day!

Hi Grace & Alex!

errr… sorry my photoshop skills are not that good yet.. hehe

here’s my 2 cents worth..

Johan

PS - the “are you headed for the wedding?” should be in a speech bubble but i dunno where to find it in photoshop..

Possible logos for ShootFest 001

April 27th, 2009 by Zach Chin. Posted in Latest News | 1 Comment »

Just a rough design for the t-shirt or logo for ShootFest using photoshop, not the refined version though. The second O is actually like the aperture of the camera lens and the first O probably can represent the videocamera on a glidecam or something, not sure bout it. Hope i can do more but i am off to Bali tmrw and since dateline is Tuesday this is the best i can offer for now. I will still keep on thinking and i am sure you guys will come out with more great ideas. Alrighty, gotta rest before my Bali trip.

Comments are very well welcomed of course!, :)

Planning meeting #2

Date: 26th April 2009, 9pm
Happening fellas present at FOUR (Alex & Grace’s house): Alex Lam, Grace Tan, Jon Low, Mark Leo, Zach Chin, Mun Tzin, Johan Sopiee, Dee, Mun Keat, Weng Yap, Pei Yuh, Joseph Siew and Ian Chong (via Skype from Singapore)

We had a great time just chatting and getting to know one another. In between the silly things we did, some serious points were drawn out.

  • Jon showed us his design for the website - VERY NICE. *clap clap*. It will be ready sometime this week.
  • A fair bit of content has been written already by Alex and Grace. More to come and be laid out nicely.
  • Grace has drafted out letters that will be sent to various photographers and videographers, asking them to get involved with the unconference. Everyone can help and send out mailers using her template.
  • Sponsorship - if anyone has contacts for the marketing departments of media-related companies, let’s contact them and see if they are willing to be sponsors. If not, we’ll target the next ShootFest to get sponsors.
  • Joseph will speak to Canon to see if they can run a hands-on-session for everyone to try out their range of lenses. Can anyone contact Nikon, Sony, Olympus, etc…?
  • Proposed logo designs need to be in by Wednesday - Grace, Zach, Jon and Joseph will conceptualize something.
  • We discussed a possible list of topics, and some booked sessions already.
  • As fillers, we will screen DVDs of photography/videography training. Jon/Mark will ask ShaolinTiger if we can borrow his Strobist series while Grace will ask Jenny Sun if we can borrow some of her DVDs. Kee Sitt will look into the video training DVDs.
  • Weng Yap and Pei Yuh will assist with printing the T-shirts. Cost for a dry-fit with simple design can range from RM20-25 each.
  • Publicity of the ShootFest will commence at the end of the week.
  • Does anyone have contact with the media? Can we get some press publicity for this?

Planning meeting numero uno

April 22nd, 2009 by Grace Tan. Posted in Behind the Scenes, Latest News | 4 Comments »

Date: 19th April 2009, 8.30pm
Happening fellas present at Coffee Bean, Jaya33: Alex Lam, Grace Tan, Jon Low, Mark Leo, Zach Chin

  1. Much as Jon Low really wants LoveFest (for his own personal reasons), we decided to call it ShootFest.
  2. Different ShootFests could be themed differently, but the first one ever will be called ShootFest 001: The Wedding, and it will be primarily for photographers and videographers in the wedding industry.
  3. The date was originally set for the 13th and 14th of June, but it clashes with the Treasures of the Rainforest conference. We decided to have it on the 6th and 7th of June instead.
  4. Mark volunteered to help with the promotions part of the unconference (and clean-up committee), while Jon volunteered to do up the WordPress blog theme. Alex will register the domain, and install WP. Kee Sitt will be in charge of liaising with the videographers. Zach was volunteered to oversee the schedules and speakers.
  5. Grace will speak to Weng Yap about printing T-shirts.
  6. We agreed that more heads and hands are needed for the committee. Everyone is to source for more help.
  7. The whole unconference will also be a green one, meaning no paper/plastic cups etc.

Here’s a crappy photo taken by the security guard at Jaya33 that documents our first-ever meeting for ShootFest! (errr, iPhones don’t take overly happening photos!)
